The Stamp of Steinberg, aired on CBS-TV as part of its experimental Camera Three series; a screening at the Museum of Modern Art followed in April 1963 as part of the museum’s Television U.S.A.: Thirteen Seasons series; see https://www.moma.org/momaorg/shared/pdfs/docs/press_archives/3099/releases/MOMA_1963_0011_10.pdf
A copy exists in the Museum of Modern Art Film Library.
According to Television U.S.A.: 13 Seasons, The Museum of Modern Art Film Library (Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1962), p. 35, “Steinberg drawings need no captions….No musical score seemed appropriate. It was Mr. Steinberg’s suggestion that the best solution might be a continuous flow of meaningless talk—such as the reading of abstruse legal documents in a foreign accent. This verbal static with passages of equally meaningless sound effects was used to provide the comfort of continuous sound so that the mind of the viewer might be free to study the drawings.”
